This article addressed the subject of spatial analysis of pharmacy distribution in the Skhirat territorial community. Geographic analysis tools were utilized to identify patterns of pharmacy distribution and their suitability for population densities and built-up areas. Furthermore, their efficiency in providing pharmaceutical requirements to residents within close distances from their residential areas was highlighted, taking into account legal distance regulations. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach to analyze pharmacy locations using the 10.8ARCGIS software.
The study concluded that there is variation in the spatial distribution of pharmacies. The majority of them are concentrated in the central neighborhoods of the community, with distances between them being so close that it leads to overlapping spheres of influence and increased competition among them. Conversely, this service is scarce or absent in many other neighborhoods, resulting in a higher average population per pharmacy and disrupted consumption patterns. The study emphasized the necessity of intervention to mitigate disparities by increasing the number of pharmacies in underserved areas, which could provide pharmaceutical and consultative services to the entire population, ensuring better accessibility. This intervention is especially important in a community experiencing noticeable positive geographical and demographic dynamics.
