Propaganda and Cinema in the Service of the Americanization of the World
To produce individuals conforming to a model of like-minded citizens, to standardize the way of life of an entire people, and have it propagated throughout the world, the seventh art was the most effective means used by American sociological propaganda to achieve this goal. Given the power of the media, especially cinema, and television, the individual is as if absorbed by the ideas propagated, and his or her main concern is to perfect his or her social image, to follow the fashion for clothes, food, the decoration or music seen especially in American films, in other words, to conform to the American model; such is the reason behind the choice of subject for our article. this study aims to examine how the seventh art has played a major role in disseminating the American way of life, not only in America but throughout the world. The question is: how did American film propaganda contribute to the Americanization of the world and the creation of conformist individuals? To answer this problem, we based ourselves on a set of studies initiated by sociologists and great writers who provided us with the basic data and the necessary information on this new education of the world and on this passing way of life unnoticed, but whose effect we can see in our society and throughout the world. From this study, it became clear that the seventh art was indeed a gigantic tool of sociological propaganda, through which American culture and myths were disseminated to educate the public by dictating the exemplary behavior they should adopt, and consequently to produce conformist individuals while undermining the culture of the other.
