The Ontology of Absurd Philosophy in The New French Novel Between Ideology’s Power and the System’s Sedition

The novel « L’Étranger » (“The Stranger”) (1942), produced by the French existentialist writer Albert Camus (1913-1960), is considered an imaginative literary work that falls within the so-called “philosophical novel” based on the logic of existential absurdity, where absolute human indifference is the individual’s slogan in real social life, and where human existence becomes as if it were non-existent.
From this standpoint, our reading work is considered a significant critical attempt that aims – specifically – to highlight the manifestations of the philosophy of ontological absurdity in the novel entitled “The Stranger”, whether in its psychological and philosophical dimension or its systemic, rhetorical, and institutional dimension. To settle a systematic critical vision, we have adopted a sociological and cultural approach based on demonstrating the process of operation of the various sociocultural patterns and systems in that novel. So, we have adopted two effective methodological approaches: The Social Textual Method and The Cultural Critical Mechanism.
