Soft Skills: Keys to Competitiveness and Performance in a Dynamic World
The rise of digital technologies is revolutionizing the professional world. Faced with the expansion of artificial intelligence and the rapid evolution of professions, companies must constantly adapt their skills to remain competitive. While technical skills, or “hard skills,” remain essential for performing specific tasks, they are no longer sufficient to guarantee professional success. Nowadays, “soft skills” are emerging as key elements in the job market, surpassing their simple relational role to become valuable indicators of social intelligence and performance.
Our study deciphers the growing importance of behavioral skills in recruitment processes, employee adaptability, and performance at work. By emphasizing qualities such as creativity, resilience, teamwork, and emotional intelligence, we show how these skills help companies identify and recruit the most suitable talents for a dynamic professional environment, thereby contributing to their long-term success.
By valuing these key skills, our research demonstrates that they are essential for adapting, innovating, and excelling in a constantly evolving professional sphere. This recognition allows companies to prepare for future challenges and strengthen their competitiveness in an increasingly innovation- and flexibility-focused market. Indeed, the era of “hard skills” is over; it is now the “soft skills” that make the difference.
Our approach is based on an in-depth documentary analysis and a critical synthesis of existing studies. We will analyze the perspectives of influential authors like Bartel (2018), and we also rely on the results of a survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) in the United States. This survey reveals the soft skills most valued by employers, which enriches our understanding of their growing impact on the job market.
