Translator: Multiple Skills for Constructing Literary Meaning
This study aims to approach the worlds of translation, highlighting the various skills of the translator as principal variables, along with the semantic and structural transformations experienced by the translated literary text as dependent variables, resulting in the creation of a suitable literary translation. The translator is portrayed as a multifaceted being, and from this diversity emerges the harmony of the text and the flow of its unity.
The study is situated in the context of interest in the translator and their skill diversity, initially as a reader and subsequently as an interpreter, ultimately becoming an author of the literary work in the final stage—a mediator entrusted with bridging the gap between the author and the recipient. The study has undertaken a problematic approach focusing on the translator’s ability to acquire translation skills and the mechanisms for managing them. Thus, the significance of the topic is emphasized by shedding light on the translator as a multi-skilled actor capable of combining tasks related to reading, comprehending, and transferring texts into different languages.
This study employs an analytical methodology, aiming to examine the translator’s skills through theoretical models and practical translation applications on various texts. The study seeks to deepen understanding of the translator’s multifaceted skills and their ability to seamlessly integrate multiple tasks, resulting in a comprehensive translation with no distinction between copies and originals.
