Self-Regulated Strategies and Problem Based Learning (PBL) – Psycho-Cognitive Approach

Problem Based Learning and Self Regulated skills are inextricably linked. This relationship suggests a future in which educational practices can best support the lifelong learning and sustainable development. The aim of this contribution is to introduce the present special issue on cognitive psychology and education, shedding lights on the importance of self-managing mental activities that could reform curriculum, and effective ways of learning and interpreting the world. The emerging field presents opportunities as well as challenges for education. It provides means to improve shared points and bridge the gap between educators, psychologists and decision- makers in order to maintain the functionality of the brain to learn in a satisfactory way even in an advanced age; in short, Self regulated learning can actually be lifespan.
