Peri-urban spaces are considered one of the aspects of urban sprawl, in which the study of phenomena is important given the multiple roles they play (environmental, economic, social, etc.), the latter accelerates the internal dynamics of these spaces. However, this importance is less considered in the interest of decision-makers, as its definition has remained ambiguous and restricted. This made its study more difficult, especially when establishing criteria to delimit peri-urban spaces.

To address this problem in the peri-urban area of Greater El Jadida, we adopted an approach based on the investment of the results of field work, relying on GPS and GIS. We also relied on theses and institutional studies. This approach allowed us to develop a set of criteria to define the peri-urban perimeter.
