“KAWS” Augmented Reality Experience: The Interaction of Artistic Perception and the Transformation of Aesthetic Experience in the Pandemic Era
The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped many aspects of global life, and art was no exception. As galleries closed and public gatherings became impossible, artists and cultural institutions turned to digital tools to keep creativity alive. This study focuses on KAWS’s augmented reality projects as a powerful example of how artistic practice adapted during the crisis. Through this case, the research explores the growth of digital art, the shifting nature of aesthetic experience, and the evolving relationship between audiences and artworks in a time of virtual isolation. At the heart of the study lies a fundamental question: can art adapt to global crises by embracing digital technology, or is it, as Nietzsche once suggested, facing decline? The findings suggest that rather than fading, art is being reinvented in innovative digital spaces. By examining how technology reshapes artistic environments and opens new forms of interaction, this research highlights the role of augmented reality in redefining creativity and reception. Ultimately, the study demonstrates how digital art transcends physical and spatial limits, offering new perspectives on the future of contemporary art in a constantly changing world.
