Geography Professors’ Perspectives on the Outreach and Openness Function of Moroccan Universities: Mohammed V University in Rabat a Case Study, Morocco

This article seeks to highlight the significance of the third function of the university, which relates to outreach and engagement with its local and global surroundings. This function plays a vital role in serving society, fostering its development, and advancing progress across various dimensions, complementing the core functions of knowledge dissemination and production. The study examines Mohammed V University in Rabat as a case study. A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted to achieve the research objectives, utilizing a survey questionnaire to capture the perspectives of geography faculty members from various academic institutions in Rabat. The main results of this research are as follows: Firstly, Mohammed V University strongly emphasizes openness and engagement with its local and national communities. Secondly, the university’s international outreach and engagement are satisfactory. Thirdly, the institution regularly organizes national and international scientific and cultural events, with its scientific output frequently published in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
